What we’re looking for

We are seeking a talented and experienced Social Media Expert to join our team on a contract basis for two marketing campaigns targeting low-income individuals in the Netherlands, Germany, and Ghana.

The ideal candidate will have an understanding of social media platforms (including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok), content marketing, and audience behaviors in these regions, with specific experience or a keen interest in financial services. The Social Media Expert will be responsible for creating and executing content marketing and social media strategies to maximize campaign impact and engagement.

These campaigns are part of a broader project and the Social Media Expert will be expected to adhere to an existing brief that has been created based on user research and design sprints.

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with campaign goals, tailored to low-income individuals in the Netherlands, Germany, and Ghana, especially in the domain of financial services.
  • Create engaging and relevant content for social media platforms, including short-form videos, considering cultural nuances and regional preferences in both regions. This will include copywriting, and basic video recording/editing, if needed.
  • Plan and schedule social media posts, ensuring consistency and optimal timing for audience reach and engagement.
  • Analyze performance metrics, track campaign progress, and prepare regular reports with actionable insights for optimizing future campaigns.

Sound interesting? You should have:

  • Proven experience as a Social Media Expert or similar role, with a successful track record in executing social media campaigns, preferably in consumer financial services.
  • Proficiency in social media management tools and analytics platforms.
  • In-depth understanding of the social media landscape, including popular platforms, user behavior, and cultural context, particularly in the context of consumer financial services and low-income, underbanked individuals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to adapt content to different audiences and cultural contexts.
  • Creativity and a keen eye for detail to craft visually appealing and engaging social media content.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and meet deadlines in a remote or flexible work environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field is preferred.

Nice to have

  • Understanding of consumer behavior of low-income African consumers and migrants, ideally with financial services.
  • Understanding of social media behavior in Africa, ideally in Ghana.
  • Proximity to London or Amsterdam to be closer to team members.
